Karl was born and raised in Lancaster county, PA, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in electrical engineering.
Liesl was born in Watertown, NY, and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in German Literature.
Both of us grew up in Christian homes, and early in life placed our faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. However, we both struggled with trying to live the Christian life in our own strength, and didn’t know how to communicate the gospel to those around us.
In college, we both got involved with Cru Bible studies. It was there that we learned about living in God’s strength and letting Him be in charge of our lives. God used Cru to show us how to know Him better and talk about Him clearly.
Our desire to serve God in full-time Christian ministry comes from the joy of seeing God change people’s lives. We joined Cru to use our gifts and talents to help others know Christ in the same personal way that we do.
After serving at Cru’s World Headquarters for 16 and 14 years respectively, we moved to Indiana in 2008 to work with Keynote, the creative arts and communication training ministry of Cru. Now Karl works remotely for Digital Products and Services, and Liesl works with the Operations team in our Westfield office. Here in Westfield we have the Cru Performing Artists team, Cru Communication Training team, Cru Innovation team, and the headquarters for the campus ministries in our Great Lakes region (Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois).
Digital Products and Services makes sure that our ministries around the world have access to the information technology systems that every ministry needs to run smoothly. We exist so that local leaders and missionaries can make good decisions and spend more time in evangelism and discipleship.
Each year God uses the ministries of Cru to bring the gospel to tens of millions of people in every area of the world.
