Reflections on the Worldwide Day of Prayer

Tuesday was Campus Crusade for Christ’s semiannual “Worldwide Day of Prayer”, when the entire ministry gathers together (in local groups, not in one place) to pray. Some thoughts…

  • God is great, and He is at work around the world.
  • I would have greater vision for my work if I spent more regular time praying for the worldwide ministry. The requests that we were asked to pray for on Tuesday are available at www.globalprayermovement.org
  • The Global Day of Prayer, coming up in May, is a big deal. It’s not a Campus Crusade effort, but is a partnership between several different ministries. It started in 2000 in South Africa. In 2001, 45,000 people gathered in a stadium in Africa. In 2004, over 20 million people gathered at more than 2,000 sites across Africa. In 2006, an estimated 250 million Christians prayed in 198 countries. Learn more and get prayer guides at www.gdopusa.com (the US site) and www.globaldayofprayer.com (the main site).
  • Preparations are being finalized for the huge student missions conference CM 2007, June 30 to July 6, in South Korea. We need to pray that all of the needed funds will be raised, that everyone who wants to come will be able to, and that many will be inspired to give their lives to God in greater ways. Click on “prayer” at the CM 2007 web site to print out your own prayer guide for this event.
